# Configuring CoA Comparison Variants (QMS)

[QualityOne Vaults](/en/lr/78610/) enable you to improve the accuracy and efficiency of CoA file ingestion by defining alternate terms for comparison phrases such as "larger than" and "less than or equals to". This allows Vault to automatically process large volumes of CoA files without the need for manual data entry.

## About Comparison Variants

_Comparison Variants_ allow you to define alternate wording for phrases that represent comparison symbols and are defined as the following values on the _Test Result Variable Data Symbol_ picklist on the _Inspection Sample Test Result_ object:

* _Less Than_
* _Larger Than_
* _Less Than or Equals To_
* _Larger Than or Equals To_

When users run the _Analyze COA_ action, Vault searches for these values in CoA files and populates the _Test Result Variable Data Symbol_ field value with the extracted matching value on _Inspection Sample Test Result_ records. In order to improve the accuracy of comparison phrase ingestion, you can provide alternate terms for these values.

### Variant Types

When creating _Comparison Variants_, there are four (4) variant types you can use to define the logic Vault uses to interpret data in a CoA file:

* _Exact Match_
* _Contains_
* _Starts With_
* _Ends With_

_Comparison Variants_ of all _Variant Types_ are not case-sensitive.
