As part of setting up QualityOne Station Manager, we recommend configuring QualityOne Station Manager for your organization using Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) software, such as MobileIron or VMware Workspace ONE. As a Site IT Administrator, you can use an EMM profile to deploy and control QualityOne Station Manager using specific property values defined through your EMM vendor.
Creating an EMM Profile
How you create your EMM profile to deploy and control QualityOne Station Manager depends on the EMM vendor that you use. Some vendors, for example, MobileIron, include an interface where you can specify application properties. Other applications, such as Workspace ONE, require an XML configuration file detailing your properties. Such application property configuration methods use the AppConfig standard.
Defining Controllable Application Properties
You must define values for the following properties when deploying QualityOne Station Manager to your devices through your EMM vendor.
Note: After adding AppConfig variables to existing installations of the application, you must ensure that application deployment has occurred successfully via EMM. QualityOne Station Manager will not reflect the changes until the deployment has occurred.
Property Key | Controls |
---|---|
VaultStationManagerEMMProvisioned | Whether QualityOne Station Manager is provisioned from a public application store or from an organization's EMM software. This must be set to "Yes" when the application is provisioned from your EMM vendor. If you set this field to "Yes", then a Station User can be used to login with their QualityOne Station Manager Enable permission set to "True", and with their Enable Direct Installation permission set to "False". This is the recommended configuration for production. If you do not set this field to "Yes", then a Station User will only be allowed to login if both Enable and Enable Direct Installation are set to "True". This is not recommended, as this allows a user who has the Station User credentials to log into QualityOne Station Manager on a personal device. |
VaultStationManagerDeviceID | A unique identifier for each device, typically set to the serial number. This value is stored on the Station Device record for this device, providing you with a way to match these records to their corresponding devices. Many EMM vendors have tokens to specify the serial number. If you don't specify a unique identifier, in many cases the value stored in the Station Device record will be a unique identifier assigned to the application that Admins cannot match to devices. The maximum supported length for this property value is 100 characters. |
Defining Warning Mode
At a specified time of day, the QualityOne Station Manager application can enter into a “Warning Mode”. This mode displays warning messages to users if the device has not been synced since the specified time. Define application properties in your EMM configuration to enable and control this feature:
Property Key | Controls |
---|---|
VaultStationManagerWarningModeEnabled | Warning mode enablement. Define this property with a value of "Yes" to enable Warning Mode. |
VaultStationManagerWarningModeCriticalTimeOfDay | The time of day after which QualityOne Station Manager must successfully sync, otherwise triggering warnings to users. This time is in GMT, and does not use the Vault's base time zone. The format for this time is H:MM or HH:MM, using a 24-hour notation. For example, "19:30". |
VaultStationManagerWarningModePopupText | The text to display in a popup dialog when a user views a document type after entering Warning Mode, and when opening document types in the application while it is in Warning Mode. If this value is not defined, QualityOne Station Manager defaults to a standard warning message stating that documents may be out of date. While the default message is translated based on the local device language settings, custom messages are not translated. |
VaultStationManagerWarningModeBannerText | Text to display in a banner at the top of the list view in QualityOne Station Manager when the application enters Warning Mode. If this value is not defined, QualityOne Station Manager defaults to a standard warning message stating that documents may be out of date. While the default message is translated based on the local device language settings, custom messages are not translated. |
Related Permissions
Along with your EMM profile, you can complete all the steps in this article with the standard System Administrator or Vault Owner security profile. If your Vault uses custom security profiles, your profile must grant the following permissions:
Type | Permission | Controls |
---|---|---|
Security Profile | Application: Client Applications: Station Manager: Enable | Ability to use the QualityOne Station Manager mobile application. Without this permission for a given Vault, users will see an error when attempting to log into QualityOne Station Manager. |
Security Profile | Application: Client Applications: Station Manager: Enable Direct Installation | If enabled, users can use QualityOne Station Manager after installing it directly from the public application store or APK file. If this is disabled, users can only use QualityOne Station Manager when it is provisioned to them from their company's enterprise mobility management provider. We recommend only enabling this permission for testing or demonstration purposes, not for production use. |
